Saudi Arabia has Joined China-led SCO in Rebuke to US

Saudi Arabia has agreed to join the Shanghai Cooperation Organization as a “dialogue partner.” The development comes after China brokered a peace arrangement between Iran and Saudi Arabia, the conflict that has lasted several years and has often been fought through proxy wars in the middle east. Furthermore, Saudi Arabia’s oil giant Aramco has now also just signed a deal to build a $12.2 billion oil refinery in China.

The trouble is that China has extended an invitation for Saudi Arabia to join BRICS, the China-backed counterpart to the West’s G7 Bloc with competing institutions. Should Saudi Arabia join BRICS, it will deal a great blow to the US dollar.
